Unforgettable….
Posted by Shannon Huey, Event Supervisor
The beginning of June was a stormy month for Colorado. When I met with Jackie and Matthew at their wedding rehearsal, Jackie talked about how important it was for them to get married outside. I was a little nervous with the weather we had the days leading up to her wedding.
Jackie and Matthew were married at Lionscrest Manor on June 14th, 2009. The weather an hour before the ceremony was dark and gloomy. Jackie’s dream of an outdoor ceremony was not looking promising. Twenty minutes prior to the ceremony the rain stopped and the sun came out.
The Lionscrest staff worked hard to dry the chairs in time for their 6:00 ceremony. By 6:15, Jackie was walking down the aisle without a hint of rain in sight.
From the balcony over looking the ceremony, the string quartet played Cannon in D. Jackie was escorted by her father Bryan down the rock staircase. Beneath her stunning wedding dress, Jackie wore a glittery pair of purple flats.
Matthew and Jackie’s ceremony was spiritual and personal. Grant Pahlau, Jackie and Matthew’s youth pastor was able to preside over their ceremony. His unique knowledge of Jackie and Matthew as teenagers to now a loving couple brought insight into their very personal ceremony. Dave Russell Photography captured the gorgeous, unforgettable mountain wedding that Jackie and Matthew had dreamed of.
A highlight of the wedding was during the cake cutting. After Matthew and Jackie cut into their traditional wedding by Colorado Rose Cake Company. Jackie surprised Matthew with an ice cream groom’s cake. This was not just any cake; it was a World of Warcraft themed cake. Atop the cake was Matthew’s self created World of Warcraft character. Jackie with the help of family and friends snuck on to the game when he was at work to order this one of a kind character. Matthew couldn’t have asked for a better surprise!
Congratulations Matthew and Jackie, I hope your wedding was unforgettable!
